My favorite course so far at UVIC is ECON 180 – Introduction to Economics and Financial Project Evaluation. Interestingly enough, it surpasses all computer science courses I’ve taken, even though I’m a software engineering student!

Iโ€™m also a Software Engineering student, and I agree that our faculty applies the principles of Constructivism most predominantly! Many of our assignments involves hands-on projects and collaborative group work. We learn by actively engaging with programming languages, frameworks, and tools. We also construct own understanding through coding exercises, debugging, and working on software development […]

  • Blog #2 – Open Pedagogy, the Way Forward ๐Ÿƒ

As a SENG student, I have often turned to Youtube videos to learn math, physics, and computer science instead of solely relying on textbooks. I know at least a few of you out there resonates with me ๐Ÿ‘€. Now, let’s envision a learning experience where students can actively participate in revising and contributing to established textbooks, making them more relevant, engaging, and student-friendly. I once came across the 99% Invisible podcast as well and thought its name is so clever. A remarkable design, I agree, is one that seamlessly integrates into people’s lives, making everything more convenient. Speaking of incorporating more physical models in classrooms, I recall hearing a suggestion about the potential of 3D printers to work […]

Hi Rick, I agree that having students form groups and try to create a team presentation is a great way to put their teamwork skills to the test! I wonder how we can ensure this activity is inclusive for students who might not have access to those devices or are not as comfortable using Powerpoint. […]
